Kitchen Optimizer Produces 60% Energy Savings
Chester Village long term care facility installed one of the Laser Controls Kitchen Hood Optimizers. The installation included a variable speed air exhaust controller for the kitchen hood which uses optical and temperature sensors to monitor smoke and heat generated while cooking then varies the hood’s air exhaust in proportion to the quantity of smoke or heat detected, thus creating demand ventilation.
According to initial data, the Kitchen Optimizer is exceeding the estimated annual savings. The reduction in energy costs is expected to save Chester Village $11,362+ annually in electrical and gas consumption. With the project approved and partly funded for $9,424 by Toronto Hydro (OPA) and Enbridge, Chester Village has a simple pay back of less than one year.
